Dancehall and reggae artist E-Dee (Everton Dennis) and Clarendon Records announce that Young Legend, the artist’s debut full-length, has been submitted for GRAMMY® consideration in the Best Reggae Album category at the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The album reached No. 9 on the iTunes Reggae chart, a milestone the campaign frames as “From Toll Gate to the top 10.”

Young Legend is a modern dancehall statement built on Jamaican roots and Hollywood production. Released through Clarendon Records and produced with GRAMMY-winning producer Qmillion and Jahsee, the project features collaborations with Ginjah, Irie Love, and Jazmin Akea. Standout tracks include “Water Run,” “Zum Zum Zum,” “She’s Loyal,” and “Beautiful Woman,” featuring Ginjah.

The announcement arrives as Recording Academy voters enter first-round review for the 69th GRAMMYs, set for February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Materials from the For Your Consideration campaign position the album on chart performance, featured artists, production credits, and the independent-label path that carried it from a Clarendon parish to a U.S. reggae chart.

The record

Young Legend is E-Dee’s first full-length and the flagship release of Clarendon Records, the independent label he founded and on which he retains master ownership. The album holds street-level dancehall energy next to reggae soul, written for clubs, playlists, and film. It is not a nostalgia project. It is a contemporary Jamaican record made by an artist who left Toll Gate, trained in Los Angeles, and brought both rooms into the same session.

Qmillion’s presence on the production places the album beside a catalog already recognized by the Recording Academy. Jahsee shares production duties. Guest vocals from Ginjah, Irie Love, and Jazmin Akea widen the record without pulling it off its center: a Clarendon voice, recorded with Hollywood discipline, aimed at a global dancehall audience.

From Toll Gate

Born in Toll Gate, Clarendon, Jamaica, the youngest of eight, E-Dee relocated to Los Angeles in 2000. He studied at Musicians Institute and Theater of Arts and built parallel careers as an artist, songwriter, producer, and actor. The music catalog includes the Billboard hit “Bounce Along” with Ms. Triniti, “Revolution,” and “Sail Away,” featuring Wayne Wonder. Film credits include Out the Gate, starring Paul Campbell and Olive Samuels; Gangland with Tamar Braxton; Temperature Rising; and Mother In Law, featuring Vivica A. Fox.

Young Legend extends that biography into a debut album. The Toll Gate origin is not set dressing. It is the campaign line, the label name, and the reason the No. 9 iTunes Reggae debut is being treated as proof of travel: a parish sound that cleared a U.S. chart without surrendering the accent.

E-Dee

In his words

“Young Legend is the record I came to America to make,” said E-Dee. “Toll Gate raised me. Los Angeles sharpened me. This album is for the people who never stopped believing the sound could travel. Number nine on iTunes Reggae was the proof. GRAMMY consideration is the next door.”

The quote is the spine of the campaign. Chart position is the evidence. Consideration is the ask.

For Your Consideration

The For Your Consideration campaign highlights three facts for voters reviewing Best Reggae Album: a debut album that reached No. 9 on iTunes Reggae; production with Qmillion and Jahsee and features from Ginjah, Irie Love, and Jazmin Akea; and an independent release on Clarendon Records, with master ownership retained by the artist.

Voters are being asked to hear Young Legend as a complete album, not a single. “Water Run,” “Zum Zum Zum,” “She’s Loyal,” and “Beautiful Woman” featuring Ginjah are the entry points. The parish-to-Hollywood biography is the context. The chart debut is the commercial marker.

First-round voting for the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards runs October 12–22, 2026. Nominations are scheduled to be announced November 16, 2026. Final-round voting runs December 10, 2026, through January 7, 2027. The 69th GRAMMY Awards will be held February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
